Five star care

My experience with a five star international care home organisation resulted in an unexpected response. I submitted my dementia reminiscence therapy proposal to the chief executive at their head office  for the company to appraise.

The five star international care home organisation came back with the following surprising comments. Although they recognised the desperate need for more resources available 24/7 for people with dementia they told me that my intervention would disrupt their staffs routines.

How could a world first endorsed reminiscence film therapy for dementia and alzheimer’s be seen as something that would disrupt staffs routines

So here was me offering them a resource which could improve the lives of their elderly residents but they refused to take it on board because it would disrupt their staffs routines. That response to me suggests that they are more concerned about their staff routines than they are for caring for their customers therapeutic requirements 24/7.

These sorts of organisations who consider themselves to be leaders in elderly residential health care are selling their residents short by failing to embrace progressive dementia therapy which can only enhance their care provision and status.

Ideal for group therapy also
